The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Discourages Travel Abroad Throughout May

Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod (S) says in the press release that he well knows that many Danes are worried about their summer vacation plans.

But the situation during the corona crisis is not able to ease the travel guide for the present.

– I know there are a lot of Danes who are dreading their summer vacation plans.

– We Danes really want to go out and travel, and I also very much look forward to things becoming more normal. Unfortunately, we just aren’t there yet, says Jeppe Kofod in the press release.

Airlines are bleeding

Nearly two months ago – on March 13 – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs changed the travel guidance to discourage all unnecessary travel to all countries in the world.

It happened because of the corona crisis.

At the same time, according to Jeppe Kofod, Danes abroad had to return home as soon as possible. At that time it was estimated that there were about 100,000 Danes in the world.

The lack of travel has hit the airlines hard financially.

Thus, a statement shows that the number of passengers in the SAS aircraft in April fell by 95.7 percent compared to the same month last year due to the corona crisis.
