For all of Italy, it is a welcome encouragement that the country’s famous “Patient 1” is now cured of coronavirus and discharged after being in a coma for 18 days.

The 38-year-old patient – known only by the name of Mattia – was discharged on Monday and was able to return to his high-pregnant wife following a family drama that Italy has followed.

Mattia was the first in Italy tested positive for coronary infection and hospitalized as early as February. His high-pregnant wife and his father were later hospitalized with the infection.
