The coronavirus is still the same. Equally contagious, just as dangerous, says Mette Frederiksen.

The government will strengthen infection detection and set up a new board to ensure the supply of protective equipment and increase testing capacity.

This is stated by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) at a press conference in the Prime Minister’s Office, where she presents a new test strategy.

Once a person has been tested and infected, the authorities will start this week to track who they have been with. So they can be isolated quickly and we will break the chains of infection, she says.

The prime minister says that the board will be under the Ministry of Justice.

The new board must take care of the practicality, the logistics and the social readiness. What we can see now is that a virus starts out as a health challenge, but ends up being a problem for the whole community, says Mette Frederiksen.

Justice Minister Nick Hekkerup (S) says that the board is scheduled to be ready from August.

Holiday centers and hotels need to be used

The new test strategy from the government means that municipalities must make available holiday centers, hotels or similar as a voluntary self-insulation offer.

This means that you can be isolated outside your own home, for example, if you live in a small apartment where there is no room to isolate yourself, says Health Minister Magnus Hekkerup (S), who also attends the press conference .

The Director of Health, Søren Brostrøm, complements:

We will use it to support intensive isolation of the infectious. With that, we are quite optimistic that we can break the chains of infection in the next stages of reopening, he says.
