Sverige klart för EM efter seger mot Island

A mistake gave 1-0 – a dream goal gave 2-0. The Swedish national team is ready for the European Championships 2022 after three points against Iceland in Gothenburg. – I’m overjoyed.

It was a real fight out there, it was really hard, says goal scorer Olivia Schough to SVT Sport. Sweden started nervously against Iceland, but it came loose just over halfway into the first half.

After a mistake from Iceland’s back line, the Swedish national team was able to take the lead. Glodi’s Perla Viggosdottir failed to score. Sofia Jakobsson could instead get right to the ball and easily shoot in 1-0. Dream goal by Schough Olivia Schough extended for Sweden one hour into the match.

During a change, she stepped into the track and shot beautifully 2-0 in the first cross. – I do not know what to say … I have fought damn hard for this. I’m glad I set my goal to get back to the national team. I have played two games and scored two goals. I can not be more than overjoyed now, says Schough to SVT Sport.

Iceland had a hard time shaking up the Blue and Yellow. The Swedish national team had a good view of the match and in the end won fairly. The 2-0 result means that Sweden is ready for the European Championships in England in 2022. The Swedish national team has 19 points after seven qualifying matches, Iceland is second with 13 points.
