The knee on his neck has stirred up several places on social media as it evokes memories of the recent killing of African American George Floyd. The killing that triggered demonstrations against racism and police violence in both the United States and a host of other countries.

Among other things, the organization Black Lives Matter Denmark has speculated that the killing should have had a racial motive.

The website redox.dk describes how one of the two brothers has supported Rasmus Paludan, and in Ekstra Bladet you can read how one of the brothers posted a picture with the slogan ‘White Lives Matter’ on Facebook as late as June 2nd. A slogan that has become synonymous with criticism of ethnic Africans in particular, the struggle for equality in the Western world.

Was it racially motivated?

However, according to Bornholm Police, there is no indication that race should have played a role in the killing.

“We are investigating broadly, and we are also investigating the racial angle, but nothing indicates that this is where we are going,” investigative director Henrik Schou told TV 2.

The police right now will not disclose what motive they are working on.

TV 2 Bornholm has spoken to the slain friend for 12 years Tobias Brandt Krähmer. He wonders if the motive should be racial.

– I can easily understand that the emotions go high when you look in the world and see what happens. But I also think you should just breathe and take it easy.

“You can’t compare what’s happening in the United States to this horrible crime on Bornholm,” he says.

Tobias Brandt Krähmer does not want to go into what the motive might be. He says that the elder brother should have been good friends with the slain until he died.

In addition, the deceased should also have previously been partying with the other brother, says Tobias Brandt Krähmer.

The two brothers have been in custody for four weeks. On Thursday, the 28-year-old will be autopsied, which is why police are yet to determine the cause of death.
