This summer, Växjö diocese would have celebrated the 850th anniversary, but due to covid-19, the celebration must now be moved forward.
During the celebration, a variety of events would take place, including a large party for children, pilgrimage from England to Sweden, anniversary celebration and a new theater play about Bishop Esaias Tegnér
– It’s sad that we can’t celebrate now, especially when we really long to be together! But for the good of everyone and everyone, we need to wait a little longer and wait for better circumstances. And then we will celebrate, says Hans Boeryd, who is the project manager for the anniversary.
The celebration will instead take place next year, to the diocese’s 851th anniversary.
