Danish borders

The extent of the border opening must be negotiated in the coming days.

Germany opens the border with Denmark step by step from mid-May, writes Flensborg Avis .

The newspaper writes that Schleswig-Holstein’s Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) has agreed with Germany’s Interior Minister Horst Seehofer (CSU) to open the border with Denmark step by step from mid-May.

We have talked together today and have agreed to develop a concrete plan for how the border with Denmark can be opened from 15 May, says Daniel Günther according to the media.

A press spokesman for Daniel Günther cannot give Flensborg Avis concrete information on how it will again be possible from 15 May to travel from Denmark to Germany.

Flensborg Avis writes that the extent of the German border opening will be negotiated in the coming days.

Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel is expected to meet again on Wednesday with the 16 heads of state of Germany.

Currently, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs discourages all unnecessary travel abroad.
