After the increase in infection - Denmark closes for Scanians

The spread of infection has increased sharply in Skåne in recent weeks.

According to Danish rules, there must not be more than an average of 30 new cases per day, per 100,000 inhabitants.

Skåne has now crossed that border. The average for Skåne in the last two weeks is now 46.3 cases per 100,000, according to Danish SSI.

In addition to Skåne, three more regions are stopped from traveling into the neighboring country: Norrbotten, Sörmland and Västra Götaland.

The border is already closed to people from Blekinge, Kronoberg, Halland, Jönköping, Östergötland, Örebro, Västmanland, Stockholm, Uppsala, Gotland, Dalarna and Jämtland / Härjedalen.

Some Scanians are admitted

The people from Skåne who work in Denmark, however, seem to continue to enter the country. Those who have “acceptable reasons”, where studies, visits to relatives and business trips are included, are also admitted.

Special rules also apply to residents in Skåne, Halland and Blekinge. If you can show a passport, proof of domicile and a negative covid test that is not older than 72 hours, you will be admitted.

Anyone who has a trip booked from Denmark is admitted, so those with a ticket from Kastrup, for example, are allowed to enter.

For just over two and a half months, the people of Skåne have been allowed to travel into Denmark – despite the pandemic.

On the ninth of July, many Danes were relieved when Swedish tourists were welcomed again. But now it’s over. The high level of infection in Skåne indicates that the border will remain closed for a while, if nothing unexpected happens.

Carl-Johan Sonesson (M), Skåne’s regional council, thinks it is good to avoid Denmark.

– The rules of the game are already known, we do not cross the line. Then you can say, the Danes have at least as high a contagion situation as we have, they have by no means a low contagion situation. It is not good to go to Denmark regardless.
