Tunisia will be the last country outside Europe to turn orange

Tunisia
There are now Tunisian entry restrictions. Only citizens and people with permanent residence can travel in from Denmark.

Tunisia has for a long time been the only country outside Europe that was not subject to Danish travel restrictions in connection with the corona pandemic. But now it’s over.

From Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs now also advises against all unnecessary travel to Tunisia, the ministry informs.

An unnecessary trip is, for example, a tourist trip.

The change is due to the fact that Tunisia has introduced entry restrictions for travelers from Denmark.

Now it is only possible to travel into Tunisia from Denmark if you are a Tunisian citizen or have a permanent residence in the country.

This is not because Tunisia has crossed Denmark’s border for when unnecessary travel to a country is discouraged. It happens when the number of infections passes 30 cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants.

It also means that travelers returning from Tunisia are not encouraged to quarantine for 14 days, the Foreign Ministry said.

Otherwise, in early September, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs relaxed its travel guide for Tunisia for citizens with package holidays.

This meant that as a Danish tourist you could travel to the country without the requirement for a coronate test. However, a string of requirements had to be met.

Among other things, the travel agency had to transport the traveler between the airport and the hotel, and the same temperature had to be measured at the hotel.

You could also travel as a Dane if you could present a negative corona test, which had been taken no earlier than 72 hours before boarding. Even if it was negative, one still had to be in home quarantine for up to 14 days.

But the travel instructions have been changed on Monday.

According to figures from Johns Hopkins University, 16,114 cases of coronavirus have so far been registered in the North African country.

The number of corona-related deaths so far has been 214.

There are 12 million people living in the country.
