An Orthodox priest has been shot and wounded in the French city of Lyon. The perpetrator has fled.

According to the French Interior Ministry, a serious situation is currently unfolding in the city.
The attack, according to French media, took place when the priest was in the process of closing his church, located in Lyons 7th arrondissement.
Police sources say according to Reuters that the priest, who has Greek nationality, is in critical condition.
Security forces have been called in in connection with the episode, writes Reuters.
According to AFP, the priest was shot twice before the perpetrator fled the scene.
In a tweet from the French Interior Ministry says a call to avoid the area and follow authorities’ instructions.
