The entry of the Corona pandemic around the world has focused heavily on the health care professionals who care for the people most affected by the disease.
Now Latvia has decided to impose a permanent tribute to the people at the forefront of the fight against the disease.
In the country’s capital, Riga, a nearly six-meter-high statue has been erected by a cloak-clad woman with a bandage and gloves. On the feet, the statue has pink clogs and around the neck a stethoscope. The face is facing the sky.
The heavenly tribute is made by Latvian artist Aigars Bikše, who has spent about three months on the statue.
