Turkey closes for all entry from Denmark

Denmark

As a consequence of the highly contagious corona mutation found in Denmark, Turkey is now closing its borders.

A large number of countries have closed for entry from the UK as a result of the new mutated variant of the coronavirus that is spreading in the country.

But the reaction also affects Danish travelers. Turkey has just decided to close for travelers from both Denmark, Great Britain and the Netherlands – the three countries in Europe where cases of infection with the mutation have been found.

Earlier Sunday, Israel also banned entry from Denmark.

70 percent more contagious

The background for the sharp reactions is the mutated version of the virus that was recently discovered in the UK. It is estimated to be 70 percent more contagious than previous versions of the virus, and on 16 December, the Statens Serum Institut stated that nine cases of the new version have been found in Denmark.

The virus is currently causing such major problems in London and the south-east of England in particular that Boris Johnson had to impose a large number of restrictions in the area on Saturday. Among other things, a new level 4 was invented in the emergency preparedness, which among other things means that residents in the area may only be seen with one person outside the household.
