April Is The Driest Month In Denmark

Rainfall has risen by 32 percent

The old climate norm showed that February had a mean temperature of zero degrees and a mean rainfall of 38 millimeters. Now, February precipitation has risen by 32 percent and the temperature by more than 1.6 degrees.

In the new climate norm, April receives an average of about 38 millimeters of precipitation against a previous normal value of 41 millimeters – and about 15 percent more sunshine hours.

In general, there is a tendency for more sun throughout the year. Although it sounds a bit contradictory, we get both more rainfall and more sun. That’s because we get more rainfall when it’s there, says Andreas Nyholm.

Of course, the final figure for April cannot be calculated until April is over, but a single month will not be able to move much on an average calculated over 30 years.

There is also no indication that April this year will be wet. It looks like a normal April, and the next week also looks dry, so April doesn’t start wet anyway, says Andreas Nyholm.

Winter was warm, wet fronts from the west

The warmer, but also wetter climate, the past winter has been a clear example of this.

The climate norms will only become official after 2020, but the values ​​can easily be calculated on a continuous basis month by month through 2020.
