Now the inclement weather starts – during the week, 30 millimeters of rain can fall

The first rain of the week we are experiencing today, Monday.

After more than a month of almost crusty weather – and where since March 19, only 6.6 millimeters have fallen nationally – the weather has now changed ‘gear’.

Monday the weather in Denmark will be split in two. In the northwestern part of the country, a cold front will weather all day with clouds and rain for periods. On Monday morning, the rain in some places in connection with the front is quite heavy, where some rain may fall shortly.

In this part of the country, the temperature throughout the day will be around or just above ten degrees, but the weather will not feel pronounced causally with the pouring rain and gray skies.

The spring weather, on the other hand, can still be experienced over the southeastern part of Denmark, where it will keep dry most of the country. The front over Jutland will only move very slowly to the south and east, and therefore the weather division of the country will continue throughout the day.

In the south-east of the country there will be periods of sunshine, especially on Bornholm, and here the temperatures can approach 15 degrees during the day. By late afternoon, however, it will be more cloudy in Zealand, and in Odsherred as well as in North Zealand, there may be some rain.

Before Monday is over, in Jutland there may be between five and six millimeters of rain, while – as mentioned – it will stay dry to the far east.

Wet week sends April out of dry top-ten

Since April 1 – even Sunday – just 5.9 millimeters have fallen nationally. It is an unusually small rainfall and if April was over now it would make it the third driest April since 1874.

Although there are only four days until May 1, the next few days will be quite wet, and even on Thursday – April 30 – between 10 and 15 millimeters of rain can fall nationally.

Therefore, April 2020 is likely to end with a total rainfall of between 15 and 20 millimeters. It will send the month out of a drizzle top-ten over the most precipitous April months since nationwide measurements began in 1874.

Last year we got 14.5 millimeters of rain in April, and it may well end up being a bit wetter this April. However, it is quite certain that April this year will end up much drier than usual. In an average April, there will be 41 millimeters of rain.
