Around five million people in Melbourne began a six-week shutdown last week to stop a recent outbreak of infection.
The inhabitants of the city of millions must stay at home, except when exercising or buying essential goods such as food and medicine.

Hoping for a fall in infection
Victoria’s official doctor Brett Sutton warned on Thursday that Victoria could risk up to 1,000 deaths a day if the state does not continue the shutdown. It writes the Sydney Morning Herald.
But with the shutdown, Sutton is hopeful that the number of new cases will drop later this week.
Victoria has a total of 2,128 active cases of coronavirus, which is also the highest number since the outbreak of the pandemic.
– Ours restrictionsis only a week old. It will take some time to bring the number down to onestable level, Daniel Andrews said Thursday, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
The Australian authorities have in practice tried to cut off the other Australians Landerfrom Victoria. This has happened with border closures between the states.
With 113 corona deaths and one population at around 25 million, Australia is still one of the countries that has escaped relatively easily during the coronavirus pandemic.
