The president of the United States has so far, during the corona pandemic, refused to use a face mask.
US President Donald Trump has appeared in public for the first time during the corona pandemic with a face mask.
Trump was wearing protective gear on Saturday during a visit to a military hospital in Maryland, where he met wounded soldiers and healthcare, who has been working in the front line during the virus outbreak.
In the past, Trump has refused to wear a face mask or recommend Americans do so, even though it is advised by leading health experts.
Anthony Fauci, the US government’s lead advisor during the corona crisis, is thus always wearing a face mask by press conferences and the like.
Trump: Masks are a personal choice
According to Trump, it is a personal choice whether to use a face mask to protect yourself and other people.
However, he has previously said he would wear a mask if he was with others without the ability to keep physical distance.
Prior to his visit Saturday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Trump told reporters at the White House that he wanted to wear a mask.
