The Copenhagen Marathon 2020, scheduled for May, has been canceled. The Copenhagen Marathon 2020 is canceled due to the corona situation.
This is stated by the organizer, the running and athletics association Sparta.
We know that the cancellation will disappoint many runners who have been training for the marathon for several months. But based on the latest developments in the events in Denmark and the world, we no longer consider it safe or responsible to complete the race, says Dorte Vibjerg, CEO of Sparta.
The Copenhagen Marathon should have been held on 17 May.
The popular race is held every spring in the capital, and this year it was expected that 12,000 runners from more than 100 countries would participate.
This is the first time ever that the Copenhagen Marathon has been canceled. Last year, the race celebrated its 40th anniversary.
