During the night towards Sunday, a serious single accident occurred outside Sundsvall.
Six young people were taken to hospital with serious injuries, and on Sunday, police announced that four 16-year-old boys were killed in the accident.
Two more people are being treated in hospitals with serious injuries.
It was at three o’clock at night, on a minor road just off Sörfors southwest of Sundsvall, that the accident occurred.
The car went off the road and down into a grove.
“We suspect that six people were traveling in this car and it is with heavy heart can be able to inform that four 16-year-olds have died,” said Josef Wiklund, local police area chief, at a press conference on Sunday afternoon.
The four 16-year-olds were all boys. Two of them were native to Medelpad, two of them in Hälsingland. Relatives have been informed.
Two are hospitalized
Police worked at the scene on Sunday morning, and during the day the car was salvaged.
– We are on site and are currently working. We are investigating what has happened, said Åsa Mjörndal at the police in the North region earlier on Sunday.
Two people, both under 20 years old, are being cared for on Sunday with serious injuries.
Police do not want to comment on what they believe is behind the accident. On Sunday, both the church and schools in the perished home areas are open between 16 and 19 o’clock.
