Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) is concerned.
For infection rates are rising and many have stopped following some of the guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus. She says this in a new interview with Avisen Danmark.
– We’re starting to relax. There is less splashing, the distance between us has become shorter. Our contact with many people has increased. We are where we decide, perhaps in the coming weeks, what kind of autumn we are entering, she says to Avisen Danmark.
The concern is so great that the Prime Minister in the interview in practice cancels most of the next phase of the reopening of society, which the politicians are otherwise scheduled to negotiate in the coming days.
– Upstairs in the spring you can not sit back now and say it is home safe . It is not, says the Prime Minister to Avisen Danmark.
Forget about nightlife for now
In phase four, scheduled to begin this month, nightlife with discos, venues and nightlife in general should have been allowed to reopen.
At the same time, the educational institutions that have otherwise been closed had to reopen. And then the limit on how many people can gather should be raised.
But Mette Frederiksen now says that the nightlife will not reopen in the near future. It is simply too dangerous in the current situation, the Prime Minister believes.
The same message came last week from Kåre Mølbak from the Statens Serum Institut, who said that he could not recommend reopening discos and bars at night.
