Traffic between the seven affected municipalities must be limited as much as possible and therefore the municipal boundaries will be closed.
The borders between the seven North Jutland municipalities, which are now exposed to more restrictions than the rest of the country, must be closed down from Friday. This is what the mayor of Vesthimmerland Municipality, Per Bach Laursen (V), tells TV2 Nord.
We do not quite know yet what this includes, but it is done to reduce the exchange of citizens between these municipalities.
The mayor also says that the following restrictions and measures will be introduced from Friday and provisionally four weeks onwards:
- Massive testing of the citizens in the seven municipalities must take place.
- All covid tests performed in the municipalities from now on must be genome-tested to examine the extent of mutated virus. It will thus be investigated who is infected with the known coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and who is infected with the mutation professional director at SSI Kåre Mølbak on Wednesday at a press conference presented as the ‘Cluster-5’ mutation of the same virus .
- A task force is set up dedicated to the situation in the seven municipalities.
- Nurseries, kindergartens and primary schools remain open
- Public and private workplaces are encouraged to reduce their activity and work from home to the extent possible. This does not go beyond welfare such as nursing homes and hospitals.
- Restaurants, cafes and bars are forcibly closed and a new compensation model is introduced where fixed expenses (rent for example) as well as salary expenses are compensated with 100 percent.
- Cultural and leisure life, including sports, is being shut down. This also applies to amusement parks.
Probably meeting again this afternoon
Exactly how all these new restrictions will be complied with and how they will take place is not yet fully determined.
The ministries are working on this, and therefore another meeting will be held later on Thursday.
To TV Midtvest, Per Bach Laursen says:
– We have not yet received information on how the task of avoiding crossing municipal boundaries is handled. It is such that the ministries are still working on how to carry it out. Therefore, a meeting will be convened again this afternoon at the municipal director level, where we will receive more detailed information on how we should behave. It will only work from tomorrow. Therefore, there is some time to do something, but we are under pressure.
The list of restrictions and initiatives may be further expanded. It writes TV 2, which has information that there will be a meeting in the government’s coordination committee on Thursday morning where the final plan for the restrictions will be determined.
Birgit Hansen: – It is a serious situation
Mayor of Frederikshavn Municipality Birgit Hansen, like the other mayors, attended the meeting on Thursday morning where the new restrictions were presented. She calls it a serious situation, and at the same time appeals to the citizens to comply with the restrictions that are now being imposed on most of North Jutland – even if the new restrictions will restrict many people’s freedom considerably.
– It will not be such a thing with barriers and guards, but we appeal to the citizens to support, because it is about life and death in the middle of a health crisis, where we must contribute.
– I hope and believe that we know that these restrictions are necessary, so that we do not contribute to a new epicenter for a new virus. It is violent and we are very tired of all the restrictions, but I think we need to be careful about drawing a measly card.
