Assembly ban of five, repatriation of school children and closure of shops extended.
The government is extending all restrictions for three weeks through February 7th.
This is confirmed by several sources to DR .
The plan will be presented at a press conference with Minister of Health Magnus Heunicke (S) at 19 – a press conference , which you can follow here on dr.dk and on DR1.
With the extension, the closure of Denmark thus continues. This means, among other things, that all stores except grocery stores and pharmacies must remain closed. All school children will continue to be repatriated, and it will continue to be forbidden to gather more than five in the public space.
Earlier today, it was announced by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) that it would be necessary to extend the current restrictions , and this is being done now.
– I believe that an extension of the restrictions is clearly necessary. Not least to ensure that the British mutation does not spread, said Mette Frederiksen.
Opening on February 7 will require health miracle
And if you ask virologist Allan Randrup Thomsen, it will probably not be the last time we get that message.
– It is completely unrealistic that things should be over by 7 February. In terms of health, a miracle must happen if any restrictions are to be lifted again on February 7, he says.
He points out that it is only at the beginning of February that the highly contagious English virus mutation will be the dominant one in Denmark, according to the Statens Serum Institut.
– It makes so much sense that we maintain these restrictions to meet it.
The English virus mutation does not leave much room to loosen the grip.
– There is simply no room for something to stay open if the contact number is to be 0.7, which is what the Statens Serum Institut estimates it should be on if the English corona mutation is to be kept down.
He points out that we must at least be out of February before the restrictions can be relaxed again . The contact number on Tuesday was calculated at 0.9.
