Denmark Will Continue To Be Closed Until 13 April – Mette Frederiksen

Mette Frederiksen

Large parts of Denmark will continue to be closed down until April 13, says Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

The partial closure of Denmark, where schools and institutions are closed, will continue until after the Easter holidays. This is stated by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) at a press conference in the Ministry of State:

Today it is 12 days since the government and the authorities began to shut down Denmark. We have succeeded in jointly changing our behavior very drastically.

That is why it is important that we as a country hold on. It is crucial. We have a belief that it is useful. It is important that we as a country hold on. I know it is really hard for many people, but we believe it works, says Mette Frederiksen.

That is why we extend everything we have started until the 2nd Easter Sunday, that is, April 13, says Mette Frederiksen.

This morning she spoke to the other party leaders in the Folketing, who support the extension.

Schools, shops and restaurants closed three more weeks

When Mette Frederiksen announced a partial shutdown of the country at a press conference on March 11, it was initially for two weeks – ie until Friday. But it will now continue for another few weeks – also over Easter.

This means, among other things, that daycare and schools will be closed at least three more weeks.

At the same time, restaurants, malls, cinemas, gyms, hairdressers and a host of other stores will continue to be closed.

This also applies to the return of public servants – not critical. Private are encouraged to work from home.

It will continue to be illegal to gather more than 10 people.
