Vaccination efforts are expected to begin in early 2021 and perhaps shortly before

coronavirus

People at particular risk of a serious coronavirus course will be given priority first.

The National Board of Health expects that the vaccination effort against coronavirus in Denmark will begin in the beginning of 2021 – and perhaps even a little earlier.

This is stated in the plan for ‘Rolling out vaccination against Covid-19’, which the Danish Health and Medicines Authority has just published.

The plan is that the vaccine will initially be given to people in special risk groups and to selected staff in the health elderly and the social sector who are particularly exposed to infection or perform a critical function.

At the time of writing, there is no vaccine against coronavirus that has been approved by the Danish Medicines Agency, but prior agreements have been made with five pharmaceutical companies that have candidates for a vaccine .

– In the most optimistic scenario, the first vaccines will be delivered to Denmark at the end of this year, says Minister of Health Magnus Heunicke (S) at a press conference .

At the same time , the Minister of Health says in a press conference that all inhabitants of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands will be offered a vaccine .

The vaccine will be voluntary and free and offered to various groups in the community on an ongoing basis. People at greatest risk for a serious course of coronavirus will be prioritized first.
