Christmas 2020 will not be as usual. Let there be no doubt. The infection situation in Oslo is still serious, says City Councilor Raymond Johansen (Labor Party) during today’s press conference.
The city council has decided to continue the social shutdown that has been going on for four weeks.
They will still ease the measures for some:
- Leisure clubs can be kept open for children and young people between the ages of 13-19 for up to 20 people at a time.
- Alternative Christmas celebrations aimed at the disadvantaged will be allowed for up to 20 people. There is a requirement that an organization must be the organizer.
- Worship services and other religious gatherings are allowed for up to 20 people.
– We hope this can be a contribution to less isolation and loneliness at Christmas. And more unity, says Johansen.
In Oslo, the ban for more than ten people who gather in private gatherings will apply until the end of the year.
– If we were to change Oslo’s ban due to the government’s national recommendations, we would have to have a completely different infection situation in Oslo. We have to do local assessments.
The City Council will make a new assessment of the measures on 7 January.
– Hopefully we will then be able to open up for more again. We will give special priority to opening up to children and young people, says the city council leader.
