In an effort to cut meat consumption, the government will introduce two purely vegetarian days a week in state canteens.
In addition, there must be a requirement that beef or lamb may be served for a maximum of one day a week.
This is stated in a new green procurement strategy for the state, which must contribute to the green transition. It writes Ritzau.
The public sector buys DKK 380 billion every year. So far, there has been a focus on price, but in future climate friendliness must also be taken into account when the state buys.
The strategy also states that the government will introduce climate compensation for all government employees’ missions by paying a contribution to the Climate Forest Fund.
