Norway introduces new corona restrictions that come into force on the night of Thursday 9 December, the country’s government announced at a press conference.
Now the situation is so serious that we must take new measures to maintain control over the pandemic, says Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Störe (AP). He talks about an increasing spread of infection in the country, that more and more corona patients who need care and warn that health care is close to being overburdened. Gahr Störe announces that the so-called “one-meter rule” will be reintroduced and urges everyone to keep their distance.
Norwegians must limit the number of people they meet. A maximum of 10 guests may be invited home, if you can keep a distance of one meter. A maximum of 20 guests may attend once during the Christmas and New Year holidays, if everyone can keep one meter away.
Requirements for face masks are introduced where it is not possible to keep distance. Alcohol may only be served to parties sitting at tables and at midnight the serving permit is revoked. Homework and distance learning are recommended for certain professions and educations.
The restrictions and requirements do not apply to children who go to preschool and primary school.
