The award-winning rapper Einár has been shot dead in a residential area in Hammarby Sjöstad in southern Stockholm, according to several sources to SVT.
Nils Kurt Erik Einar Grönberg, known under the artist name Einár, was born in 2002 in Stockholm and broke through already as a 16-year-old with the song “Katten i trakten” which quickly took first place on the Swedish charts. The same year, 2019, he released his debut album “First Class”.
As a rapper, he achieved great success with millions of gigs on Spotify. Einár has also won several music awards, including the P3 Gold Award for Song of the Year 2019 and “Newcomer of the Year” at the Grammy Awards 2020.
He was 19 years old.
Relatives have been notified.
Several people called the police at 22.50 on Thursday night after hearing loud bangs that sounded like shots. When the police arrived at the scene, a residential area in Hammarby Sjöstad, a gunshot wounded man was found.
Life-saving measures were taken, but he died on the spot, says police spokesperson Carina Skagerlind.

A police helicopter has been deployed in the hunt for one or more perpetrators. The police have received information that one or more people have run from the crime scene.
We are looking for several suspects who have been at the scene and shot the man who died, says Ola Österling, press spokesperson at the Stockholm Police.
Police have questioned several witnesses. No arrests have been made so far, but several people have been brought in for questioning.
