Most young men are victims of scams when they fall for a bargain from a private online seller.
Cynical scammers are in large style fooling private individuals into ordinary trades through, for example, Facebook’s trading platform or The Blue Newspaper.
In fact, to a degree, for example, purchases of mobile phones, expensive sneakers and concert tickets accounted for more than one-third of all reviews for the National Police’s new nationwide Center for IT-Related Economic Crime (LCIK) last year.
And the scam is hitting broadly, according to a brand new inventory of IT-related financial crime reviews in 2019.
It is worth noting that any negligible degree of technical ingenuity can be deceived, says leading police inspector Torben Svarrer.
Most victims are young
The victims are few among older Danes, while it is primarily the 20-29 year olds and the 40-49 year olds who pay for goods that never come.
Maybe because it is especially those who deal with individuals online.
– We can see that many young people are being cheated. For example, young men aged 15-19 experience being fooled when trying to buy electronics such as cell phones and tablets or designer clothes and designer shoes over the internet, says police inspector Torben Svarrer.
