Prince Joachim was discharged yesterday from the University Hospital of Toulouse, France, where he underwent surgery last week for a blood clot in his brain.
– It is now the opinion of the doctors that the prince’s health has improved to such an extent that his royal highness can be discharged, and Prince Joachim is now staying at the Château de Cayx. It is still the family’s wish that the prince gets the necessary peace to recover completely, writes the royal house.
The prince was on holiday at the royal family’s wine castle , Château de Cayx, in the south of France, when he was hit by a blood clot late on 24 July.
Hurry to Toulouse
Initially, the prince was admitted to a local hospital in the town of Cahors, about a 20-minute drive from the castle. Later, however, he was rushed to the University Hospital of Toulouse by ambulance, where he underwent surgery.
The Royal House writes in the press release that Prince Joachim and Princess Marie would like to thank the hospital staff involved for a professional course.
According to the plan, Prince Joachim was to take up a position as Denmark’s defense attaché in Paris on 1 September.
The Royal Family has not yet announced whether the illness will affect employment.
