The government will not reopen nightclubs if health authorities advise against it.
If you’ve been hoping to go to a disco with friends soon, do not look forward to it too soon.
Health Minister Magnus Heunicke (S) comes tonight with a message indicating that the dancing shoes will not be aired at the club just yet.
He says this in the wake of a recommendation from the Statens Serum Institut’s director, Kåre Mølbak .
– We will not present anything that is unsound from a health professional point of view. You hear Kåre Mølbak today say that it would be unjustifiable to proceed with a major reopening of the nightlife. If it is the authorities’ recommendation, we will not propose it, says Heunicke in TV Avisen.
According to Mølbak, it would not be justifiable to reopen discos and venues, as the infection rate looks right now. After a period of low levels of coronavirus infection, the number last week was on a par with what was seen in early May.
– Yes, at least the part about nightlife and discos. Our responsibility is first and foremost to ensure that we remain the right place in the epidemic . One must be careful not to open too much on the super-spreading events that nightlife can be, says the Minister of Health.
– We have just planned the reopening in phases, so that before each phase we can get a health professional assessment. We do not want to risk putting everything out of control, as we have achieved in Denmark, says Heunicke.
