A year-long dispute between the US Department of Justice and the city government in Los Angeles has ended with a settlement, where the city government has agreed to pay more than 250 million kroner for incorrect information about some of the city’s multi-family buildings.
The US Department of Justice, on behalf of a wheelchair user, sued the Los Angeles city government in 2017 because it had falsely stated on state documents that a number of homes built with federal funds were handicap-friendly, AP writes.
Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto, who represented Los Angeles, says it denies the allegations but is satisfied with the settlement, as the federal government had originally sought up to $1 billion in damages.
