Thisted Municipality has shared a profile picture , which is a simple logo where “Thy” is written in white on a grey-green background.
Back in February, the municipality held a vote where they asked people if they should change the name from Thisted to Thy Municipality. It was a “no thank you” from 62.5 percent of those who answered the survey, but now there are some who think that the municipality is trying to sneak in a new name through the profile picture on Facebook.
Among other things, it reads in the comment field: “It’s piss annoying”, “how misleading” and “it must be removed as soon as possible”.
Peder Schjødt is a communications consultant and digital manager at the local advertising agency Vizuall, and he defends the municipality.
– It is perfectly okay for a municipality to brand its area in a more free way, he says.
