Juventus fire coach after Champions League failure

Juventus

Maurizio Sarri has finished as head coach of Juventus following Friday’s Champions League exit.

Juventus need new head coach.

It is clear after the Italian big club on Saturday chose to fire Maurizio Sarri, who sat on the post until Friday’s Champions League match against Lyon.

A match that ended with a 2-1 victory for Juventus, but also an overall defeat to Lyon and thus a farewell to the Champions League after the round of 16. Lyon had won the first showdown 1-0 in France. The results meant that Lyon went on to the rule of most goals scored away from home.

It is otherwise only a few weeks ago that Juventus secured the Italian championship for the ninth time in a row. But that triumph was not enough to keep Sarri in the post after Friday’s farewell to the Champions League.

Thus, it became only a single season for Sarri at Juventus.

Juventus Football Club hereby announces that Maurizio Sarri has been removed from his position as head coach of the first team.

– The club would like to thank the coach for writing a new page in Juventus’ history by winning the championship – the ninth in a row. The culmination of the personal journey that has led him to the top of Italian football, writes Juventus on its website.
