At 17.00 on Saturday, some new, stricter travel restrictions will come into force. Many recognizable purposes have been suspended.
On Friday, Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod (S) announced that the corona situation in the whole world is now again so serious that Denmark advises against all travel abroad.
At the same time, new restrictions were introduced for travelers to Denmark.
Foreigners residing abroad must in future have a recognizable purpose in Denmark if they wish to travel here.
A flight ban is also introduced for all passengers who cannot present a negative coronate test that is at most 24 hours old.
The recognizable purposes have also been sharpened in light of new virus mutations from the UK and South Africa that are spreading rapidly around the world.
That is why special rules have also been introduced for the two countries in particular.

Sharpened recognizable purposes
It is still possible for people to travel into Denmark if they:
- Is primary caregiver for minor children
- Must exercise visitation rights with minor children
- Is a family or girlfriend of seriously ill or dying people in Denmark
- Is a spouse, boyfriend, parent or similar to a person living in Denmark
- Must participate in an ongoing course of treatment with the health authorities
- Must be present at the birth of the future child
- Must attend a funeral
- Has a job in Denmark
- Must participate in a lawsuit in Denmark
- Is a sailor, crew member on a plane, diplomat and the like
- Must deliver goods or services into or out of Denmark
- Entry for the purpose of freight transport
Particularly recognizable purposes for the United Kingdom and South Africa
Foreigners residing in the United Kingdom or South Africa can enter Denmark if they:
- Is primary caregiver for minor children
- Is a family or girlfriend of seriously ill or dying people in Denmark
- Entry for the purpose of freight transport. When people residing in the UK transport goods to Denmark, they must present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours before arrival
Temporarily suspended recognizable purposes
The following recognizable purposes are temporarily suspended:
- Is a spouse, permanent partner or child of a Dane who lives abroad and travels together
- Must attend a business meeting
- Going to a job interview
- Are students in Denmark
- Must be in educational internship in Denmark
- Going to a folk high school stay in Denmark
- Must be an au pair in Denmark
- Have a necessary errand at an embassy or representation in Denmark
- Has its own holiday home, boat or mooring in Denmark
