Sweden’s Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, who was approved by the Riksdag earlier on Wednesday, has requested her resignation after the government was torn apart.
She says this at a press conference in the late afternoon just over seven hours after the Riksdag approved her by a narrow majority as a replacement for her Social Democratic party colleague Stefan Löfven. This is written by the news agency TT.
The reason is that the Green Party, which forms the government together with the Social Democrats, has resigned from the government in protest against the bourgeois opposition having gained a majority for their own finance bill.
Earlier, the government’s Finance Act was voted down by the Riksdag on Wednesday afternoon.
Throughout the day, the Green Party has made it clear that they cannot live with a bourgeois finance law that does not put the fight for climate and environment at the highest level.
