If you do not have winter tires, you should probably not leave today, says TV 2 Vejrets Andreas Nyholm. The southern part of the country in particular is affected.
Strong winds on Monday give the risk of snow drifts and snow drifts on the roads. The Danish Road Directorate states that the southern part of the country in particular is affected.
From several police districts, it sounds that motorists need to show patience and heightened attention on the roads.
Southeast Jutland Police say that there have been up to ten traffic accidents in their area overnight. However, no one was seriously injured.
– But depending on where such a snowdrift is located and how deep it is, you lose control of the vehicle. If you then brake and dodge at the same time, you may be heading in the wrong direction when the car then gets a grip again, says head of security Halfdan Kramer.
He adds that it has especially been the motorway E45 in a northerly direction between Kolding and Vejle that has been affected by the inclement weather. But he urges motorists across the Triangle to be careful:
– You risk driving on a road that otherwise looks fine. And then suddenly there is a proper pile of snow.
Drive from home well in advance
Funen Police Chief Milan Holck also sends a prayer to the people of Funen. There have been no serious accidents, but many have called in and reported major snow drifts.
– We encourage people to drive away from home well in advance. Show patience and drive according to the conditions that always apply. But especially today, because the snow drifts all over Funen can lead to sudden snow drifts and reduced visibility.
The South Zealand and Lolland-Falster police also write on Twitter that several country roads are difficult to access:
Remember the winter tires
Meteorologist at TV 2 WEATHER Andreas Nyholm says that the strong gusts from especially east and northeast are of stormy gales. And the violent weather does not seem to stop just yet.
In addition, a little new snow will fall during the day.
– You can come driving on a country road with fine driving. And suddenly there is a drive of half a meter. If you do not have winter tires on, you should probably not leave, says Andreas Nyholm.
