Two to three more months with coronal closures and restrictions. It is the near future as the Prime Minister sees it.
The kids have to stay home from school and in the country’s hospitals, the staff is struggling with the many corona inmates.
And the dull reality may well prepare us for will last the rest of the winter.
The gloomy message comes from Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) in a New Year’s speech, which was marked by the pandemic.
– We must expect that the worst months are ahead of us. January and February will test our patience. The season is against us.
– I believe and hope that Easter will be our turning point. Not an end. A turning point.
Easter falls this year in early April.
No new restrictions
Mette Frederiksen was not specific in relation to specifying the extent of corona restrictions in the period after 17 January.
Instead, she was delighted that the vaccine had begun to be rolled out.
The Social Democrat, who gave his second New Year’s speech as Prime Minister after the election victory in the summer of 2019, spent a lot of rhetorical energy thanking the Danes, whom she called ‘heroes’.
– You who watch. You have saved lives. It’s that simple.
– You do not even know who you saved. It could be a woman you passed on the street who is suffering from a chronic illness. With your behavior, you have broken the chain of infection so that the disease did not affect her, said Mette Frederiksen, among other things.
