Danish metal legend’s father releases new album at 92 years old

The multi-artist Torben Ulrich has released an album in collaboration with an American composer.

It’s never too late to embark on new projects, even if you’ve done well over the years.

92-year-old Torben Ulrich is living proof of that.

The former tennis star, who is also the father of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich, has just released a new album with composer and cellist Lori Goldston.

It writes the music magazine NME .

The album is called ‘Oakland moments: cello, voice, reuniting (rejoicing)’, and it is the first time that the 92-year-old Dane works with Lori Goldston, who has previously worked with Nirvana and a number of filmmakers, choreographers and visual artists .

The son Lars Ulrich wrote this weekend about his father’s upcoming album to his 1.3 million Instagram followers :

– This is my father. It’s him on the left. 92 years old and he has only just begun. Today, as one does at his age, he is releasing a new album. This time in collaboration with his good friend Lori Golston (…) It is really something to strive for, writes Lars Ulrich in a post where he also uses the hashtag #HeavyMetalGandalf about his long-bearded father.

On the seven-track album, Torben Ulrich performs his own lyrics and poems to the music, which is supposed to be inspired by his rice paper paintings, and which explores topics such as athleticism, philosophy and mysticism.

The fact that Torben Ulrich, who has lived in San Francisco since 2011, is releasing a new album at the age of 92, is something that impresses people in the music industry and makes headlines in several foreign media .
