A 22-year-old Danish citizen was arrested Tuesday evening at Copenhagen Airport. This is what Copenhagen Vestegns Police writes in a press release.

“The person in question has been in absentia custody since 2017 and internationally wanted,” police say.

The person was arrested when he landed after entering Turkey.

On May 3, 2019, the 22-year-old was requested to be extradited from Turkey for several violations of Section 114 of the Criminal Code, also known as the Terrorism Clause. According to the police, the person must have violated the terrorist clause by promoting the activities of a terrorist organization, for helping another to try to promote the activities of a terrorist organization, for entering and staying in a prohibition zone, for being recruited to commit terrorism and for complicity for another to be recruited to commit terror.

Police say in the press release that the 22-year-old will be arraigned at a Constitutional Court hearing in Glostrup tomorrow, Wednesday, July 8, for custody. The police say that in this connection they will request that the constitutional hearing be done behind closed doors and that the police will therefore not comment further on the case at this time.

The Copenhagen Vestegns Police do not say whether it is a man or a woman.

This is the second arrest of a foreign warrior at Copenhagen Airport in less than a year. Thus, in November 2019, a 28-year-old foreign warrior with Danish citizenship was also arrested at the airport – in this case too, the person arrived from Turkey. The man arrested in November had earlier been given a four-year prison sentence in Turkey for joining the Islamic State terrorist organization.
