February is struck by the stick as the month with the least amount of rainfall this year
For almost 30 years, we have learned that February is the driest month of the year. But now we have to learn something new. The driest month is climate change, so it is in April that the title will be the driest month of the year.
What is normal weather is determined by the so-called climate norms. Climate norms are averages for, among other things, temperature and rainfall over a 30-year period, and this year we are at the end of such a period.
This means that the figures for this year together with the previous 29 years will constitute the new climate norm.
But even though April has taken the lead as the driest month, April has not moved that much. February has changed character.
