The huge container ship Ever Given has been stuck for almost a week, blocking the entire Suez Canal.
But now something seems to have happened. It has succeeded in getting the ship’s bow free from the side of the canal, so that the ship now floats freely.
Osama Rabie, chief executive of the Suez Canal Authority, confirms, according to the Wall Street Journal, that the bow of the 400-meter-long ship has been released.
He says tugs are still in the process of making sure the ship is straightened up so much that it can start moving through the canal.
– We are not finished yet, but it has moved, he says.
