Compulsory vaccinations written out by new epidemic law

For weeks, protesters have stood in front of Christiansborg and demonstrated against both the government and the Epidemic Act.

A broad majority has agreed on a new epidemic law.

This is what Minister of Health and the Elderly Magnus Heunicke (S) says at a press conference.

– The goal is that future governments in future health crises should not stand as we did and make legislation in a hurry, he says and highlights three elements:

  • A committee is set up in the Folketing, which has epidemic management as its only task. Future decisions must pass this committee.
  • The rights of the individual are strengthened. All forms of coercive vaccination are being written off because the parties believe that information is better than coercion, it reads. In addition, so-called automatic judicial review is introduced. This means that the ministry itself brings all cases before the district court if an injunction is issued in the nature of deprivation of liberty.
  • An Epidemic Commission is made, whose recommendations to the government are published.

Replaces urgent law

The new epidemic law replaces the legislation that was adopted by the Folketing in the spring of 2020 after urgent processing.

With the adoption, Minister of Health and the Elderly Magnus Heunicke (S) expanded his political room for maneuver, and the authorities were given the opportunity to introduce a number of far-reaching measures.
