The Prime Minister is strongly considering tightening restrictions

Mette Frederiksen
Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen writes on Facebook that they are strongly considering tightening corona restrictions.

Stricter restrictions may be on the way, says Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S) on Saturday afternoon.

After Saturday’s infection figures were at a record high of 2115 infected, she writes on her Facebook profile that “we are strongly considering whether there is a need to tighten the restrictions even more”.

– The infection is too high. Too high. The increase we have now seen over several days is worrying, and there is reason to take it very seriously, she writes, among other things.

Saturday’s infection rate is the highest measured during the epidemic. However, the number on Saturday covers more than 24 hours.

Significantly more people are currently being tested than in the spring. Therefore, there are also more infected without symptoms.

On Friday, the Capital Region of Denmark was also the first region to move up to risk level 4 on the covid-19 risk scale.

The risk assessment scale goes from one to five.

At the same time, Health Minister Magnus Heunicke (S) wrote on Twitter that “critically high incidence in the metropolitan area can put incipient pressure on hospital capacity”.

Mette Frederiksen comes on Saturday with “a strong appeal” on her Facebook profile.

– First and foremost, we need to see fewer people, so it will be easier to break the many chains of infection. We have to think: Shall we see each other? And not only that, how are we to be seen?

– I know it’s hard this Christmas season – but it’s very crucial.

In addition: We are strongly considering whether there is a need to tighten the restrictions even further. We need to have better control of the infection before Christmas. I hope for everyone’s support, the Prime Minister writes.

She does not go into what the specifics are.

The government’s national alert system sets out the measures that can be taken at the various five levels.

However, the system does not specify when measures are to be initiated. It depends, among other things, on the specific risk assessment.

At a high risk level, an assembly ceiling of three to ten people can be considered, it appears from the warning system. The same can general use of sanitary napkins in public space.

Educational institutions, restaurants and cafés can be closed, as can shopping centers and shops, the notification system states.
