EndSARS: UN Secretary-General António Guterres Speaks About Police Brutality In Nigeria

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres has finally added his voice to ongoing violence in Nigeria

In a report filed by Citinewsroom, he called for an end police brutality in Nigeria following 13 days of protests by citizens.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, he condemned “the violent escalation on October 20, in Lagos which resulted in multiple deaths and caused many injuries.”

Guterres further urged the security forces in Nigeria to act with maximum restraint at all times.

He said the United Nations was ready to support Nigeria’s efforts towards finding a solution but it however encouraged its authorities to swiftly explore avenues to revolve the situation.

Meanwhile, in a tweet, Former US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton asked Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigerian army to stop killing young #EndSARS protesters
