There’s a lot at stake in the Premier League for Manchester United in the coming week, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær gets something to look forward to in terms of getting the players ready physically and mentally after Sunday’s slap in the FA Cup semi-final.

Otherwise strong Manchester United lost 1-3 to Chelsea.

And without taking the slightest from a well-played Chelsea team that was without a doubt the strongest team of the day and deserved the victory, the Manchester players can only thank themselves that it is Chelsea who are now in the final.

Drop of the goalkeeper, own goal and clashes between teammates with replacement as a result were among the ingredients in the United pot.

Shortly before the break, Oliver Giroud brought Chelsea in front. The Frenchman got the outside on a cross from César Azpilicueta and the ball found its way in behind United goalkeeper David de Gea.

David de Gea may not have looked too lucky in the situation, but he did not have much time to react to the finish from Giroud.

It looked worse for the Spanish goalkeeper immediately after the break. David de Gea was freeview for the long shot from Mason Mount, but the otherwise strong last bulwark did not get his save at all.

Evil got worse for United with just over a quarter of an hour left when Harry Maguire scored an own goal, and then it did not help much that Bruno Fernandes scored on a penalty kick in overtime.

Chelsea are ready for the final at Wembley, where Arsenal await. Arsenal beat Manchester City 2-0 on Saturday.

The match for the prestigious trophy will be played at Wembley on 1 August.
