Significantly more people in Denmark get cuts in their driving licenses than before

Motorists still have difficulty getting rid of their mobile phones, figures from the National Police show.

Police have been out with the scissors for the first three months of 2020.

Compared to the first quarter the year before, more than 8,500 more clips were given in the driving license to the Danes motorists. It shows numbers from National police.

It’s especially motorists, where the foot is extra heavy on the accelerator, or who can not leave the mobile phone lying, which gets cut in the card.

At the same time, the police have been more present in the street scene. This is what Christian Berthelsen, a police assistant at the National Traffic Center of the National Police, says.

– We work every single day forever to reduce the number of killed and seriously injured in traffic.

– And when we are very much out in different places around the country, it will also result in someone being charged with violations of road traffic Act and thus also get clips, he says.

The law was changed
In September last year, the law became sharpened, so motorists, which uses handheld mobile phone and gps, gets a clip in the driver’s license. A misdemeanor that previously only triggered a fine.

According to figures from National police stands for motorists’ use of handheld mobile for about 6,000 of the clips given in the first quarter.
