‘We Keep Marching’: Protesters Defy New Security Law In Hong Kong

The first person has been arrested for holding a flag of independence from China.

At midnight local time came China’s new contentious Hong Kong Security Act in force.

Before 8 am Danish time, Hong Kong police announced on Twitter that the first person had been arrested under the law.

The person held a flag with the text “Hong Kong independence”.

Didn’t read the law

The Security Act applied before the citizens of Hong Kong had the opportunity to insert the full text of the law.

Even Hong Kong’s leader, Carrie Lam, had to admit yesterday that she had not read the law, which she had otherwise just given her full support.
