Minister for Integration Mattias Tesfaye says foreign spouses and regular cohabiting partners must again enter.
The government has decided to relax the entry rules, so that Danes’ foreign spouses and permanent cohabitants must travel inland. They have been cut off since the borders were closed in March.
This is what Foreign and Integration Minister Mattias Tesfaye (S) of the Parliamentary Speaker said today during Question Time to Ministers.
We have been able to start a gradual, controlled reopening of Denmark.
As part of the gradual opening, it has now been decided to ease entry restrictions, so that visits from spouses, permanent cohabiting partners, children and parents in general must be regarded as a worthy cause, says Minister of Foreign Affairs and Integration Minister Mattias Tesfaye (S) in the Parliament.
He further says police guidelines have already been updated.
Since the Danish borders closed on March 14, only foreigners with a worthy purpose have been allowed to enter Denmark.
Recognizable Purpose
If you do not have Danish citizenship, live in Denmark or have a worthy purpose, you can be rejected by the police at the border.
Visits from, for example, foreign spouses have not been considered, but are now again.
“However, people with symptoms will continue to be rejected at the border,” says Mattias Tesfaye.
The issue was raised by De Radical’s Aliens Mayor, Andreas Steenberg, who in the Chamber promised the Minister both a handshake and a pat on the shoulder when it is again soundly sound.
Love does not know borders, so I think it was wrong to have closed the border here. And I’m glad the government has changed its decision, he says.
He does not believe it poses a health risk to individuals entering to visit spouses or boyfriends. The latter so he liked to add to the list.
I know it’s hard for a policeman at the border to define whether something is a date or a permanent relationship. I think that, even those in the relationship can have a hard time, says Andreas Steenberg and continues:
My position is that if a person at the border says that you should visit a girlfriend and that the boyfriend confirms it, then you can come in.
