Trump skips the inauguration ceremony for Joe Biden and holds his own farewell party at the military base.
The outgoing President of the United States, Donald Trump, has left the White House for the last time before being replaced later in the day by the post of Joe Biden.
Donald Trump has already announced that he will not attend the inauguration ceremony for Joe Biden.
He will instead fly by helicopter to Joint Base Andrews, where he is expected to hold a short farewell ceremony.
Here it is expected that he will give a speech before flying on to Florida.
Who will attend Donald Trump’s farewell party is still unknown.
Several of his closest allies have already announced they will not participate.
A source close to Vice President Mike Pence told CNN that Pence said goodbye to Donald Trump on Tuesday.
He has thus not been to the White House on Wednesday, nor will he be at Joint Base Andrews for the president’s ceremony.
Donald Trump breaks with decades of tradition by leaving Washington on the day of the transfer of power while in fact still being president.
Usually, the outgoing president stands by the side of the incoming president at the inauguration ceremony to mark a peaceful transfer of power.
However, the change of power in the United States has so far far from been peaceful.
Thus, since the presidential election on November 3, Donald Trump has talked about election fraud in connection with the election defeat of Joe Biden.
