What is behind the cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the police and the Chinese Embassy, which began in 2002?
The Tibet Commission had hoped to get an answer to that question during the interrogation of former director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and later Danish ambassador to China Friis Arne Petersen.
The cooperation was aimed at ensuring that legally notified demonstrations took place where they did not bother the Chinese delegation.
But even though the collaboration was mentioned in several documents that landed on Friis Arne Petersen’s table, he did not investigate what exactly it was about.
– No, obviously not. Since 1997, we have maintained a clear course to defend the Danesfreedoms (vis-à-vis China, ed.). I simply do not understand how to arrive at these questions. Why should we buy on oursconstitutional rights ?, was one of his answers.
